RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

United Power has mighty strength in research and development; it owns “State Key Laboratory of Wind Turbine Generator sand System Technology”, “Provincial and Ministerial Wind Power Technology Research and Development Centre” and “Post-Doctoral Research Centre”. The Technology R & D Centre is based in Beijing, with its R & D Building of 13,000 square meters under construction. The building is located in the “State Science and Technology City” in the northern part of Beijing, which is a national high-tech innovation and entrepreneurial base. The R&D Centre comprises of labs focusing on the whole structure, electrical control, blade and load calculation and technical integration. The company now has more than 100 technical experts including 20 doctors, and 51 masters listed in state “Thousand Talents Plan”. The R & D Centre focuses on the study of fundamental and perspective wind power technology and the design of the world's most advanced WTG.
 

The R&D Center participated in joint design of 1.5MW and 3MW wind turbine units with many famous international WTG design firms (Aerodyn, GH, etc.) and possessed the intellectual property for all wind turbine designs. At the moment the R&D Centre is undertaking the research and development of 6MW or above wind turbines. The R & D Center majors in:
 

● Research and development of wind generator units which accommodates diversified weather conditions as the sea, inter-tidal zone, high-altitude, low wind speed, low temperature and sand prevention.

● Research and development of the wind generator units adaptable to nation grids with different voltage and frequency.

● Research and development of the wind generator units featuring the same power quality as conventional thermal and hydroelectric power generating and also adaptable to grid fluctuation;

● Research and development of wind power prediction and remote control technology.

● Research and development of such green manufacturing technologies as WTG weight reduction, critical parts repair, life extension and recycling of blade materials.
 

The company operates the only wind power industrial State Key Laboratory for wind power equipment and system technology, which is the state-level laboratory approved by our country, opening up to the entire industry, and in possession of such world advanced laboratorial equipment as world advanced 1:1 full-power simulation and blade fatigue laboratorial platforms. The Laboratory has started good cooperation with various well-known domestic and international scientific organizations and institutions. The post-doctoral research centre has provided perfect work and life protection for those domestic and international doctors ambitious to research wind power technology. Guodian Wind Power Generation Technology Center is a R&D center lead by Guodian Technology and Environment Group, a subsidiary of China Guodian Group.
 

The Technology Centre successfully completed 1.5MW wind energy converter joint design and development capability, and realizes the integration of high power turbine system overall design and manufacturing design on the basis of wind turbine drive train structural design , high power blade and electrical control system development. Currently 3MW~6MW offshore and grid-friendly wind turbine is being developed.
 

According to analysis based on market requirements, United Power’s 3MW wind turbine series includes three different types, namely, Double-Fed Induction Generators (DFIG), Permanent Magnet Direct Drive Generators (PMDD) and Grid Friendly Generators. The prototype of 3MW DFIG has completed full functional test in Lianyungang manufacturing base and delivered to Zhangbei wind farm in Hebei Province in February. In April 2010, this 3MW DFIG prototype wind turbine has completed testing on site and successfully integrated into the grid.
The development of United Power’s wind turbine generator with rated capacity of 6MW is also underway and the prototype is expected to complete full functional test by the end of 2011.

In pursuit of more advanced and reliable next generation wind power technology, United Power has included development of 10MW to 12MW wind turbine systems in its R&D roadmap.
 

There are 4 senior specialists, 25 senior engineers, 20 doctors, 51 masters and one experienced professional. Meanwhile, the R&D centre invited 16 distinguished experts from the wind power industry, forming the United Power committee of experts and scholars they participate in the important technical course, the development of new products, the cultivation of technicians, and provide strong support to United Power independent intellectual property wind power core technology. The centre has whole turbine full power test bench and subdivision small test bench. Its test bench technology equipment and testing level are internationally leading.
